This video shows a group of players discovering Darth Revan’s complex. The ground battle in the game looks as good as ever. Some of the armor that the characters are wearing look pretty cool too. Check out the video below.

If you play the game as a Jedi, you’ll be flying around one of these. Not really that impressive, but it looks like it could be fun none-the-less. It kind of looks like a hammer-head shark, but I think that’s the general design that most of the Correlian starships follow.

Developed at the height of the Great War, the Defender was custom-built for the Jedi Order. The Jedi Council commissioned the starship after determining that Republic military vessels were not well-suited to the Jedi’s more specialized missions. The Defender’s exterior design is based on the consumer model corvette, but it has been outfitted with countless customized upgrades. The starship includes two levels. The formal upper level features diplomatic meeting rooms and an elegant conference room at the ship’s center. The conference room contains a unique Holocom system for secure communications with the Jedi Council. The Defender’s lower level includes a cargo hold, a medical bay, and a small private space in which the Jedi can retreat for meditation. Despite the Jedi Order’s commitment to peace, the ship is battle-ready. If circumstances warrant, the Defender is engineered with high-powered shields and twin turbo lasers to engage the enemy.

The Fury Starcraft will be available to you if you play the game as a Sith. SWTOR has put some good information about it up on their website with some photos and videos. It looks OK to me. It’s kind of a cross between a TIE Fighter and a cargo ship like the Millennium Falcon. I don’t plan on playing the game as a Sith, so I probably won’t ever get the chance to fly it. I suppose if the game is good enough to play through again, I might try it out.

Featuring an advanced hyperdrive and state-of-the-art sub-light engines, the Fury is the most versatile starship in the Imperial fleet. Though initially designed for high-priority military missions, the Fury has become a favorite among Sith Lords and the latest models have been engineered accordingly. The Fury’s angular design combines the maneuverability of smaller Imperial fighters like the Interceptor with impressive armament that rivals some of the Empire’s larger military vessels. The Fury also features a newly designed set of ‘strike foils’ that remain down for travel but can be expanded in short range combat to maximize the ship’s agility and range of firepower. On the interior, adjustments have been made to match to the luxury and aesthetics demanded by the Sith. No expenses have been spared.

I am torn. On one hand, you have amazing graphics and action. On the other hand you have combat like you saw in the game Rebel Assault. You can also refer to it as ‘combat on rails’. This type of combat is where you’re not really in control of your ship. It’s going to follow a very specific path and you’re along for the ride. Basically you just have to maneuver around obstacles and press the fire button.

That’s a bit disappointing for me. Especially growing up with the X-Wing and TIE Fighter simulators. It really makes space combat a mini-game.

I still need to check out the Gamer PC that came out this week. I want to see if they have any better insight into what space combat is going to entail.

There is a new holonet entry for the Mandalorian wars that is worth a glance. I enjoyed watching this one a lot more than the last (Jedi civil war). It tells the story about how Revan and Malak began their path to the dark side.

Watch it here

The Mandalorian Wars included some of the bloodiest battles in the Republic’s history. Mandalore the Ultimate’s relentless campaign to goad the Jedi into open conflict cost the lives of millions. Though the entrance of a Jedi splinter faction into the war is perceived as the factor that turned the tide against the Mandalorians, the perseverance of Republic soldiers and pilots like Carth Onasi cannot be underestimated. Jedi Master Gnost-Dural’s historical investigation analyzes the conflict with the perspective of modern events, highlighting the implications for the war against the Sith Empire.

BTC 311 – Too often, the Mandalorian Wars are characterized solely as a prelude to the Jedi Civil War, but the events surrounding the conflict itself bear close examination. When Mandalore the Ultimate called together the clans and began augmenting his armies further with Neo-Crusaders, his intention was to pull the Jedi Order into open conflict. As is the tradition in their culture, the Mandalorians sought to establish themselves as the most powerful faction in the galaxy by defeating the faction they considered to be their greatest rivals. Though the Jedi Council resisted the Mandalorian challenge, the splinter group led by Revan and Malak eventually joined the fray and won the war. Though there has never been a hint that the Sith were involved in the Mandalorian Wars, new analysis from Jedi Master Gnost-Dural suggests that the influence of the dark side was involved. The bittersweet victory in the Mandalorian Wars took a toll on the Republic for which the price is still being paid to this day…

The Gormak were sentient humanoids native to the planet Voss, a world in the Voss system of the Allied Tion sector in the Outer Rim Territories. They were the more populous of their homeworld’s two native sentient species—and they were extremely hostile toward the other, a species known as the Voss. The Gormak were equally hostile toward off-worlders, whom they viewed as allies of the Voss.

The Gormak possessed an innate comprehension of technology, although they did not develop flight capability prior to contact with off-worlders. When the planet Voss was discovered by non-natives shortly after the end of the Great Galactic War in 3,653 BBY, the Sith Empire attempted to conquer the world, which the Sith thought was only populated by the Gormak. The attempt failed due to the intervention of the Voss species, and the planet remained independent. Embassies were established by the Empire and the Galactic Republic to curry favor with the Voss alone, an oversight that angered the Gormak. The Gormak built mines, settled in camps, and scavenged stolen technology for their weapons and spacecraft.

Bioware just announced the advanced classes for the Jedi Knight class. The guardian and the sentinel. You can read all about them in the holonet or you can read what I think about them.

The guardian uses a single light saber and is equipped with heavy armor. It sounds like it will go the route of a tank class. Until now, none of the other classes held much interest for me outside of the bounty hunter. With the gaurdian though, I think I’ll have to give it a try. A heavily armored Jedi Knight is just what the doctor ordered.

The sentinel uses dual light sabers and attacks through holes in their opponents defense. You’re typical DPS class. I don’t get excited about them. They still feel like little scrawny, wimpy Jedi to me. I’m going to wait a while before I try this class.

I do think that it’s cool that Bioware is giving you the opportunity to try out so many different classes that have such dramatic differences in the story of the game. There hasn’t been any other MMO out there (except for EVE Online) that has ever inspired me to start over the game as a different race. Good on ya, Bioware.
